Big bass championship this weekend at Banks Lake

This weekend (Sept. 12-13) more than 100 of the best bass angler teams will converge on Banks Lake in Eastern Washington for the Northwest Bass — “Reel Competition” Championship.

The tournament is a culmination of a six tournament season. The two-angler teams competing in the championship had to fish at least four of the six tournaments throughout the season.

The winning team will be awarded a $30,000 bass boat provided by circuit sponsor Nixon’s Marine, along with additional cash and prizes totaling as much as $40,000.

The format covers two days and a five fish limit for each day for the team. There is a 12 inch size limit and as anglers achieve their limits they are allowed to cull smaller fish to gradually increase their total bag weights.

Teams leave the start at about 6 a.m., and depart in order of their regular season finish and weigh in at prescribed times. Fishing days last until about 3 or 4 p.m. The tournament headquarters is the Coulee Playland Resort located in Electric City. Weigh-ins are open to the public so come and watch some good bass action fun.
