An estimated 1,081 boats fished in the Hanford Reach for salmon last week, as reported by Paul Hoffarth, a state Fish and Wildlife biologist in Pasco.
A total of 689 adult chinook and 325 jacks were harvested. Anglers averaged just shy of one chinook per boat last week. Bank anglers at Ringold were picking up a few chinook jacks.
So far this season 1,125 adults and 457 jacks have been harvested. We are on the same pace as last year when 1,120 adult chinook and 486 jacks were harvested by Sept. 21.
Anglers are now allowed to keep hatchery steelhead in the Columbia River Catch Area 535 from Highway 395 Bridge to Priest Rapids Dam.
