Here’s the latest word on fishing in Lake Chelan and other nearby areas from Anton Jones, owner of Darrell & Dad’s Guide Service in Manson.
What’s hottest is trolling the lower basin of Lake Chelan for Lake Trout. Also continuing to provide great fishing is drifting baited jigs under slip bobbers for Steelhead in the Upper Columbia. Rufus Woods Reservoir continues to be productive for shore anglers and boaters. Roses Lake is now covered with ice and some anglers are venturing out to ice fish for trout and panfish.
On Chelan, I have not varied from my standard fare of Worden Lures F-7 Luminous Chartreuse flatfish off the downriggers and Purple Glow Rushin’ Salmon Wobblers from Critter Gitter off the outriggers to produce 3 to 4 bites per hour while fishing the lower basin right down the center line of the lake in the trench.
Baiting Mack’s Lures quarter ounce Rock Dancer jigs with purple shrimp is still the ticket for Upper Columbia steelhead.
On Rufus try casting Mack’s Lures Glo Getter marabou jigs either from the shore or boat for those triploid rainbows.
