The Puget Sound Anglers All Chapters Salmon Derby was held Saturday, April 9 at Port Townsend.

Fishing seemed really slow and the weather had backed down for Admiralty but the eastern Straits were still called for high winds, according to Monique Baker a PSA club spokesperson.

The first annual derby sold 118 tickets and 14 hatchery-marked chinook were weighed-in.

Results -1, Ken Unkrur with PSA Sno-King Chapter, 22 pound chinook, $800; 2, Jack Standeford with PSA North Kitsap Chapter, $500; 3, John Keaser with PSA North Kitsap Chapter, $300; 4, Derrick Dittes with PSA Sno-King Chapter, $200. Mystery fish winner was Gary Wiegand with PSA Fidalgo Chapter, $200. Wiegland’s 9.48 pound fish was the closest to the 9.4 preselected weight.
