As the spot shrimp fishing season gets underway on May 7 in most areas of Puget Sound and Hood Canal here is a superb recipe courtesy of Harry Yoshimura, owner of Mutual Fish Company in Seattle is sure to kick the taste buds into high gear.

I’ll also post more shrimp recipes in the coming weeks as we near the shrimp fishing opener. I’ve got a spicy one that’ll knock your socks off.

Mutual Fish Company Chinese Shrimp

1 lb Medium shrimp

2 tb Minced garlic

3 tb Soy sauce

1/2 tb Black pepper

2 Spring onions, chopped

1 Carrot, thinly sliced

1 Stalk celery, thinly sliced

1 Hard peel snow peas

Directions

Boil shrimp in hot water for approximately 8 minutes.

Rinse in cold water. Shell and devein.

In a heat proof bowl, add shrimp, soy sauce, and garlic. Then all remaining ingredients and top with black pepper.

Place bowl in steamer and cook for approximately 5 minutes.
