Merwin Reservoir is hot for kokanee fishing, but trout is somewhat slow in southwest lakes

Here are the latest trout plants and catch reports from Southwest Washington, and the highlight is the kokanee fishing.

In Silver Lake near Castle Rock, 32 anglers had two bass. A lot of hours fishing, but not much luck. Water temperature is 51 degrees.

In Kress Lake near Kalama, 31 anglers caught two rainbows (14- and 15-inches) and 16 released. Lots of effort, but very slow fishing. Water temperature is 50 degrees.

At Horseshoe Lake in Woodland, 13 anglers had one rainbow (15-inches). A lot of effort, but low harvest. Water temperature is 51 degrees.

In Merwin Reservoir, 37 anglers had 136 kokanee and 20 other fish. Water temp is 48 degrees. Fish were caught in the top 6-9 feet of water.

In Klineline Pond, 110 bank anglers kept 103 rainbows and three brood stock rainbows, plus they released 23 rainbows.

I should have some fresh trout fishing reports and plants from the greater Seattle area in the coming few days.
