Shrimp recipe delights with an asian panache

MutualFish_5.JPG

The shrimp fishing season is happening right now in parts of Puget Sound and Hood Canal, and we wanted to pass along yet another recipe courtesy of Harry Yoshimura, owner of Mutual Fish Markets in Seattle with an ethnic flair.

If you plan to go out be sure to check the regulation pamphlet or my articles in the paper or online for specific dates of when shrimp fishing is open. For those who don’t want to to can’t get out onto the water to harvest their own, there are many seafood markets in Seattle, including Mutual Fish that sell fresh caught shrimp be it spot shrimp or other species.

Chinese Shrimp

1 lb Medium shrimp

2 tb Minced garlic

3 tb Soy sauce

1/2 tb Black pepper

2 Spring onions, chopped

1 Carrot, thinly sliced

1 Stalk celery, thinly sliced

1 Hard peel snow peas

Directions

Boil shrimp in hot water for approximately 5 minutes.

Rinse in cold water. Shell and devein.

In a heat proof bowl, add shrimp, soy sauce, and garlic. Then all remaining ingredients and top with black pepper.

Place bowl in steamer and cook for approximately 15 minutes.
