Not much happening yet for shad in the Lower Columbia River

Still looks like it’s a little early to start looking for shad in the Lower Columbia River below Bonneville Dam.

During this past Saturday’s effort aerial flight count, 55 bank anglers and no boats were surveyed by state Fish and Wildlife.

Boat anglers in the gorge caught a couple fish earlier in the week.

Counts at Bonneville Dam counts are reaching a few hundred fish a day. On May 21,158 shad were counted at Bonneville, and on May 22, 294 were tallied for a season total of 754.
