Ilwaco to close for halibut fishing after June 4

The Ilwaco area will close to halibut fishing after Saturday, June 4 as it is expected to reach 70-percent of their catch quota by that date.

Ilwaco is open Thursdays to Saturdays. The fishery will then reopen on Aug. 5, Fridays to Sundays until the remaining quota is taken, or September 30, whichever occurs first.

The North Coast halibut fishery off Neah Bay and La Push has enough remaining in their catch quota to allow fishing to reopen on June 2 and 4.

The Westport offshore halibut fishery quota has been achieved therefore that season is now closed. The Westport near shore (incidental catch) fishery will remain open daily as well as the lingcod and black rockfish fishery.
