Geoduck adventure digs deep into sands of Puget Sound

Thumbnail image for IMG_1267.JPG

Had a great day on Saturday at a “secret” Puget Sound beach digging up some geoducks with my good friends who have this program nailed down.

Talk about some serious labor intensive work to get these creatures who burrow down sometimes at least three feet deep. But, all that hard work is definitely worth the time!

It also draws quite the crowd of people who come wondering what the heck are these folks doing half buried in the sand.

They even ask if they could take a picture with our gooey-ducks like they are some kind of rock stars. One person said, “I gotta show this picture to my friends.”

Here is a video of a nice-sized geoduck being extracted from the sand.

I plan to write a story about our adventure in the newspaper later this week.
