Crystal Mountain Resort open for skiing and snowboarding July 2-4 and beyond

Celebrate the Fourth of July by skiing or snowboarding at Crystal Mountain Resort, which will be only the second time in the areas history that it is open for operations on July 4.

The Mt. Rainier Gondola and Green Valley will be open for skiing July 2-4. Open area is intermediate and advanced terrain. Hours are: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and last gondola download is 4:30 p.m.

A record snowfall of more than 600 inches of snow has fallen since Crystal opened on Nov. 19, breaking the previous snowfall record of 598 inches set in 1999. That was the only other season when the slopes were open on July 4.

Lift tickets are reduced to $35. The base area will host a barbecue and live music.

Crystal plans on being open the following weekend, July 9 and 10, but operations later into July are still to be determined.

Crystal Mountain is now open daily for scenic gondola rides, mountaintop dining and sightseeing. Guided horseback tours begin July 2.
