Congratulations to our Reel Time Pacific Northwest fishing and outdoor trivia contest winner Greg Sullivan of Seattle who said the answer was “Offutt Lake.”
Sullivan grew up in Northern Colorado, and learned to fish at a young age with his two brothers from his dad who had a lot of patience keeping track of the tangled mess they constantly made with tackle while learning to fish on the Cache La Poudre River, west of Fort Collins.
Fishing was always part of his life as he grew up, and has now passed it on to his 7-year-old daughter Nia. Greg took Nia to Offutt Lake about a year and a half ago on her first fishing outing.
They fish together a lot and have been out a few times this spring to Cranberry Lake at Deception Pass and Silver Lake in Everett, most recently. Nia landed the largest fish at recent Everett Kids’ Fish-In, winning a fishing cap and her dad’s everlasting admiration.
Nobody got the right answer after I first posted this trivia question on Monday, and then when I added a clue on Tuesday afternoon about the lake being in Thurston County and having a fishing resort it took Sullivan less than 10 minutes to come up with the right answer.
About 40 percent of our readers got the right answer. Look out for the next trivia question when I post it on Monday morning.
Sullivan wins a book titled 50 Fish To Catch In Your Lifetime by John Bailey, and some Berkley Power Bait Products. I’m also throwing in some fishing line and a lure for Nia. Way to go Sullivan family!
This will be an ongoing weekly trivia contest through the summer where the winner who answers the question first will receive an outdoor prize that will range from books, Berkley bait, lures and other nifty items from the outdoors gunnysack.
Here are our rules for The Seattle Times contest.
