Word on Lower Columbia River estuary sturgeon fishery

During July 1-4, anglers in the estuary made 1300 trips and kept 280 white sturgeon.

While catch rates for private boat anglers remained similar to those observed in June, catch rates for charter boat anglers were the highest of the season.

Effort still remains about half of what it was last year, and on today’s (July 7) flight there were only 40 private and 3 charter boats in the estuary.
