Reel Time trivia winner hails from Maple Valley

Congratulations to our Reel Time Pacific Northwest fishing and outdoor trivia contest winner Gary Brown of Maple Valley who said the answer was “Rufus Woods.”

Brown who started fishing when he was 8-years-old enjoys all types of fishing, but is partial to fly-fishing.

“I love to fish for salmon in the fall months in the local rivers, especially coho,” Brown said. “I worked as a chef at the now defunct Mackenzie Trail Lodge in British Columbia on the Blackwater drainage for four years before getting a real job, getting paid to cook and fish. That was a tough job.”

When Brown turned 10 he stated to his family that “time not spent fishing is time wasted,” a statement that he’s tried to live his life by since.

Here is a tally of answers from the trivia question: 1. Rufus Woods; 2, Lake Chelan; 3, Lake Roosevelt; 4, Potholes Reservoir and Banks Lake; 5, Alaska, Ross Lake, Jameson Lake and Keechelus Lake.

Brown wins some Berkley Power Bait Products and a nice hardback fishing book.

This will be an ongoing weekly trivia contest through the summer where the winner who answers the question first will receive an outdoor prize that will range from books, Berkley bait, lures and other nifty items from the outdoors gunnysack.

The next trivia question will be posted on Monday, Aug. 1.

Here are our rules for The Seattle Times contest.
