Lots of fish to go after in Eastern Washington this and next month

Here is the fishing report from Dave Graybill, longtime Eastern Washington outdoor radio host and angler:

September is coming up quickly, and before August ends there are some things to get to and some things to look forward to next month.

The month-long season for triploid rainbow trout from below the bridge at Bridgeport to the bridge at Brewster will end. This has been great fun, and I sure did my part to remove as many of these trout from the Columbia as possible. I had a bunch of great trips with folks and had a lot of fun. I have a freezer full of these fine eating fish, too.

Another season that will end is the one at Grimes Lake for Lahontan cutthroat. This remote lake produces good catches of big cutts from June through August, and is very popular with fly anglers. There’s just a few days left if you want to try it.

A season that is already underway, but will extend it’s boundaries is the Wenatchee River summer run salmon season. Beginning the first of September, anglers can fish from Peshastin Creek to the Icicle Creek Bridge.

The season will continue through October 15th. I expect to see much better than usual late-season summer run fishing on the main stem Columbia River, due to the late arrive of these fish.
