Reel Time trivia winner hails from Ballard

I spaced and usually post the Reel Time Trivia winner on Friday, but hey I was busy out on the water “digging up” or better yet “fishing up” the latest reports to keep everyone in the know on how salmon fishing is going.

Anyway congratulations to Byron Walker of Ballard who was last week’s winner and answered first by saying it was the “Green River.”

Walker just got back into fishing this year, and got a license for the first time as an adult (he’s 43).

“I used to fish a lot as a kid with my dad and grandpa, and I started taking my six year old daughter fishing a couple of years ago,” Walker said. “Taking her fishing to kids-only places like Mill Pond in Auburn gave me the bug, and I finally took the plunge this year.”

Walker likes to shore fish the urban lakes in the area, Green Lake, Lake Washington, Bitter Lake, etc.

“Most times I bring my daughter, and it has become a great activity for us to share. Next year we’ll move up to saltwater fishing, I think,” Walker said.

Brown wins some Berkley Power Bait Products.

This will be an ongoing weekly trivia contest through the summer where the winner who answers the question first will receive an outdoor prize that will range from books, Berkley bait, lures and other nifty items from the outdoors gunnysack.

The next trivia question was posted a little less than 30 minutes ago (Monday, Aug. 29).

Here are our rules for The Seattle Times contest.
