A very strong run of hatchery fall chinook will allow more areas of the Washougal River to open from Saturday, Sept. 17 until further notice.
This will reduce the fishing closure from 400 feet to 200 feet downstream of the new Washougal River adult fish weir.
The area downstream of the new weir is holding a large number of hatchery chinook. Significant additional harvest is expected to reduce the number of hatchery fall chinook being trapped and surplussed at the weir.
Selective fishing rules are in place on the river.
