Fairly good catch of chinook in the Puget Sound Anglers Sno-King Blackmouth Derby

The Puget Sound Anglers Sno-King Chapter Blackmouth Derby for members and guests was held on Saturday, Nov. 19 at the Edmonds Marina.

“We had 46 anglers weigh in 22 fish, (and) it was a spectacular day on the water,” said Tim Stumpf, vice president of the PSA Sno-King Chapter. “Most of the fish were caught in Area 9 (northern Puget Sound) although fish were weighed in from 8-1, 8-2 (both in the Saratoga Pass area) and 10 (central Puget Sound).”

Woody Woods who took first place and Joe Pa who placed third both caught their fish on the southern end of Possession Bar. Gordon Ruh who took second caught his fish near Onamac Point in Area 8-1.

Club Member Jay Murphy also caught and released a 50 pound halibut at Possession Bar, and took home a bonus Dungeness crab measuring 9 inches.

Results: 1, Woody Woods, 10 pound-2.00ounce chinook weighed-in at 2:37 p.m.; 2, Gordon Ruh, 8 pound-1.00 ounce at 2:48 p.m.; 3, Joe Pa, 8 pound, at 2:38 p.m.; 4, Jim Murray, 7 pound-10.50 ounce at 2:05 p.m.; 5, Kevin Lanier, 6 pound-15.00 ounce at 2:27 p.m.; 6, Brandon Lee, 6 pound-11.50 ounce at 2:57 p.m.; 7, Trisanna Pearson, 6 pound-7.00 ounce at 2:50 p.m.; 8, Ryan Stumpf, 6 pound-7.00 ounce at 2:52 p.m.; 9, Scott Slaughter, 6 pound-7.00 ounce at 2:58 p.m.; 10, Darrin Small, 5 pound-12.50 ounce at 2:48 p.m.
