Nooksack North Fork and Whatcom Creek reopen for fishing

The North Fork Nooksack River and Whatcom Creek reopened Thursday, Jan. 12 to fishing after the Kendall Creek Hatchery and Whatcom Creek Hatchery were expected to get enough fish for spawning purposes.

This includes the North Fork Nooksack River from the Mosquito Lake Road Bridge upstream to the yellow post located at the upstream-most corner of the hatchery grounds, approximately 1,000 feet upstream of the mouth of Kendall Creek; and Whatcom Creek, from the mouth to Woburn Street Bridge.

However, the section from Maple Creek to Nooksack Falls will close Feb. 1; and the area from the mouth to Maple Creek will close Feb. 16 to protect returning wild steelhead.
