Fly-fishing experts Skip Morris and Rick Hafele to host two-day workshop Feb. 25-26

Fly-fishing authors/instructors Skip Morris and Rick Hafele are offering a two-day workshop titled Mastering Western Rivers and Lakes 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Feb. 25-26 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Issaquah, which is sponsored by the Creekside Angling Company fly shop in Issaquah.

Learn about the insects that move the fish, how to imitate those insects with the right fly, learn from a fly-tying master on how to tie some of his favorite patterns, techniques for fishing a fly effectively, how to read the water, and more.

Cost is $145 for both days, $80 for one day, and discounts offered for fly club members. Class size limited and preregistration required.

Here is the schedule for the seminars:

Day One Rivers & Streams

9:00 – 10:00 Intros & Understanding nymphs 1 (Rick) – Mayflies & Stoneflies: What they look like and how they behave.

10:00 – 10:15 Break

10:15 – 11:10 Fishing nymphs – Skip

11:10 – 12:00 Understanding nymphs 2 (Rick) – Caddisflies & Diptera: What they look like and how they behave. (Plus some common nymph fishing mistakes!)

12:00 – 1:00 Lunch

1:00 – 1:45 Understanding emergers and dries 1 (Rick) – Mayflies & Stoneflies

1:45 – 2:00 Break

2:00 – 2:45 Fishing dries – Skip

2:45 – 3:00 Break

3:00 – 3:45 Understanding emergers and dries 2 (Rick) – Caddisflies – Diptera – Terrestrials

3:45 – end Tying nymphs, emergers and dries – Skip

Day Two Lakes

9:00 – 10:00 Introduction to Lakes – Where are the trout? Equipment? Stillwater Mayflies – Rick
