Two poachers in Southwest Washington caught with two dead deer

Some poachers just make it too easy, according to state Fish and Wildlife enforcement.

Sgt. Wickersham received information from WSP dispatch that a subject had witnessed two deer being taken out of a car near Southwest Washington Medical Center and dragged into the backyard of a residence.

Sgt. Wickersham and Officer Bolton, who had just arrived to man the TIP Trailer for the Pacific NW Sportsmen’s show, responded to the call.

Utilizing a nearby vacant lot, the Officers were able to watch one subject drag a deer from the backyard to the house. Officer Bolton made contact with the subjects and had them come outside.

After Miranda and Ferrier were given, the Officers seized the two deer, a rifle, and some marijuana.

Both subjects confessed to harvesting the deer near Lyle in broad daylight with the 30-30 rifle.

The Officers cleared less than 1.5 hours after arriving, donated the deer and made it back to the sportsmen’s show in time to man the TIP Trailer.

Officer Bolton located the crime scene the next day and collected blood samples and spent 30-30 casings. Charges will be filed with Klickitat County and possibly Clark County Prosecutor’s office.
