Less than a week remains to fish in the Frank Wilson Memorial Blackmouth Derby.

“Some pretty nice fish were weighed in, and new third and fourth place contenders are on the leader board,” said Kevin Klein, a member of the Friday Harbor Puget Sound Anglers Chapter.

Klein says the last day of this fun local tournament is Sunday, April 15, with final weigh in at 3 p.m., and awards ceremony at 5 p.m. at Haley’s Bar and Grill in Friday Harbor.

“Many times the top salmon have been weighed in on the last weekend, so this could be a real nail biter,” Klein said.

Top prize is $1,000, all proceeds go to the San Juan Island EMS.

Top-five fish: 1. Geno James 22.57 pounds; 2. Marty Chevalier Sr., 19.92; 3. Marty Chevalier Jr., 18.59; 4. Justin Nibler, 17.29; 5. Bobby Wilson, 16.43.

Women’s leader: Karen Rhinehart, 13.00. Kid’s leader: Race Rousar, 11.10.
