Lake Stevens Kokanee Derby lures many anglers out on the water

The Lake Stevens Kokanee Derby was held last Saturday, and the while the action wasn’t hot and heavy those who participated had a great time.

“The kokanee fishing was below average but there was some nice fish caught,” said Mike Chamberlain at Ted’s Sports Center in Lynnwood. “The derby turned out to be pretty good, and we had 235 adults and 60 kids participate.”

Here are the results:

In the adult divisions the largest kokanee was caught by Ryna Hansen, 1.43 pounds, $1,000; 2, Mike Christianson, 1.33, $500; 3, Frank Linskey, 1.31, $250; 4, Cris Miles, 1.30, $100.

The largest trout was 1.62 caught by Cris Miles, $500. Biggest kokanee bag limit went to Bruce McCall, 10.51 pounds, 10 fish, $500; Cris Miles 10.33, 10 fish, $250.

Largest kokanee in kids division went to Bernadette Miles, 1.33 pounds, $100. Largest non-kokanee species went to Mackenzie Ramsey, 4.55 pound smallmouth bass, $75, and Alex Rodorigo with a 3.30 pound smallmouth bass, $50.

Largest kokanee by a gamefishin.com member went to Ryan Hansen, 1.43, $100.

Largest kokanee by a Wounded Warrior was Julie North, 1.03, $100.
