Reel Time trivia winner hails from Sedro-Woolley

Congratulations to Joe Holtcamp of Sedro-Woolley who is this week’s Reel Time Trivia winner.

The trivia question of the week was:

For this trivia we’re heading east of the Cascades for a multi-species lake that is located partially on Adams and Lincoln counties.

It covers 1,840 acres and gets peppered with a plant of rainbow trout, but also has great fishing for smallmouth and largemouth bass, crappie, perch, bluegill and channel catfish with May to September being the best period.

It is just south of I-90 and the reason for such a good bass fishery is the crayfish population is big so you might want to bring a trap to get some of these tasty critters too!

The correct answer Holtcamp gave was Sprague Lake.

“I remember the first time I went fishing was when I was maybe 7 or 8 years old,” Holtcamp said. “My dad wasn’t a fisherman but I talked my mom into taking me to one of those trout ponds that is kid only fishing. I remember it being a zoo of kids running around. I didn’t really know what I was doing but I ended up catching a trout with a tag on it and won a tackle box.”

“I still have that tackle box but now I have many others like most fisherman,” he said. “I most enjoy fishing for steelhead and salmon from a drift boat on the rivers. It is something I have just started to do in the past couple years. I caught my first steelhead last year. I have spent most of my fishing time fishing lakes for trout and trolling for salmon in the San Juans. My favorite place to fish is the San Juan islands.”

“There is so many different places to fish and so many things to see,” Holtcamp said. “Fishing is a lot of fun and catching is a bonus.”

Holtcamp wins a nice outdoors prize.

This will be an ongoing weekly trivia contest where the winner who answers the question first will receive an outdoor prize that will range from books, Berkley bait, lures and other nifty items from the outdoors gunnysack.

The next trivia question will posted on Monday, June 11. Winners are announced the following Friday.
