Here is the latest fishing report from Dave Graybill, longtime Eastern Washington outdoor radio host and angler:
There is a new salmon derby on the Upper Columbia River this year. It’s the first annual CCA Wenatchee River Salmon Derby, which will take place on July 13-15 in Wenatchee.
The summer run salmon season starts on July 1 here every year, with lots of bright kings between Rock Island and Rocky Reach dams. It’s about time there was a derby to take advantage of this.
There will be big money available to successful anglers, as well as other prizes awarded through raffle drawings.
Anglers interested in getting in on the action should visit the Wenatchee Salmon Derby website.
The derby web site will give them all the details, including a registration form that they can fill out and send in. We expect a great return of summer run kings to this area again this year, so fishing should be great!
Also coming up in July is the appearance of Sig Hansen, one of the skippers featured in the Discovery Channel’s popular Deadliest Catch television show. He will be at the Town Toyota Center on July 20th, and there will be an all you can eat crab feed before the show.
To learn more about the event go to the Town Toyota Center website.
