Eastern Strait to close July 11 for spot shrimp fishing

The eastern Strait of Juan de Fuca spot shrimp fishery will close at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11.

State Fish and Wildlife says the sport spot shrimp quota is expected to be achieved by then.

The eastern Strait will remain open through Oct. 15 for non-spot shrimp fishing with a 200-foot maximum fishing depth restriction. All spot shrimp caught must be released. Shrimp pots with a minimum mesh size of 1/2 inch may be used.
