Beginning fly casting lesson offered this month

Wholesale Sports Outdoor Outfitters is offering a beginning fly casting class 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. July 28. Cost is $50.

Instructors include Darrel Martin, certified by the Federation of Fly-Fishers (USA) and the Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructors (UK) and Michael Martin.

The four-hour class session combines instruction, demonstration and practice on local waters. It includes an introduction to equipment, theory of casting, leaders and knots, plus instruction on rod assembly and care, stance, hook removal, as well as various casting techniques.

Students should have the following equipment: Raingear, brimmed hat, protective eyewear, rod, reel, backing, line, and 3X tippet.

Students should also have their equipment ready to cast with line and leader attached. For more information, call 253-835-4100.
