The first salmon anglers were interviewed on Sunday, Sept. 9 with state Fish and Wildlife staff interviewing 10 anglers with no reported catch.
Fall chinook are moving into the Yakima River so fishing should pick up in the coming days.
Most of the fishing effort in the Yakima River has been targeted on bass and channel catfish. 45 anglers were interviewed over the past two weeks with 28 bass and 2 channel catfish.
The Yakima River is closed to all fishing at night and the anti-snagging rule is in effect for all species.
