The Cabela’s Store in Tulalip is hosting a variety of fishing and hunting seminars to prep anglers and hunters for upcoming seasons and fishing activities.
The largest salmon derby on the West Coast, the Everett Coho Derby, is coming up on Sept. 22-23, and Cabela’s one of the derby sponsors is hosting a free event to get anglers ready 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20 at the Tulalip Cabela’s, 9810 Quil Ceda Blvd. in Tulalip.
The event will include appetizers, seminars by local fishing experts Jim and Jennifer Stahl; Nick Kester and Gary Krein with All-Star Charters in Everett; Ken Pinnell; and Doug Saint-Denis.
TV fishing host Glenn Hall from Hawg Quest will also be on hand.
Anglers can purchase their derby tickets at Cabela’s or bring their pre-purchased ticket stubs to the event for a chance to win prizes and more.

The Waterfowl Classic, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day on Sept. 15-16. Events on Saturday include Adult Open Duck Calling Contest for prizes; retriever dog demos; A to Z for Waterfowl taught by Buck Gardner Calls Pro, Ben Getty; Preparing Your New Hunting dog by Tom & Katie Quarles of Autumn Retrievers; the Science of Goose Calling; and Proper Decoy Placement in Variable Terrains.
On Sunday, there will be a Youth Duck Calling Contest for Prizes;Retriever Dog Demos; Steadying your Dog with Tom & Katie Quarles of Autumn Retrievers; Duck and Goose Gear; Duck Calling 101 by Ben Getty of Buck Gardner Calls; Basic Duck Blind Obedience by Tom & Katie Quarles of Autumn Retrievers; and Shotgun Cleaning Done Right.
On Saturday, Sept 22 at noon there will be a seminar on Getting Started with Your AR-15; and at 2 p.m. Black Powder 101. On Sunday, Sept 23at 1 p.m. is the Hunting with a Muzzleloader 201; and at 2 p.m. Get Bear Prepared.
