Salmon Homecoming Celebration Friday and Saturday on Seattle waterfront

The Salmon Homecoming Celebration is Friday to Saturday (Sept. 21-22) at the Seattle Aquarium and Waterfront Park.

The event will feature tribal cultural celebrations, cultural arts, crafts, demonstrations, environmental exhibits, tribal canoes, a Pow Wow, “Coastal Jam” and a salmon bake.

Sponsors of the event include the Muckleshoot, Suquamish, Tulalip, Lummi, Stillaguamish, Upper Skagit, Snoqualmie and Squaxin Island Tribes; the Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission; Seattle City Light; Seattle Parks and Recreation Department; Seattle Public Utilities; the Seattle Aquarium; Seattle Public Schools; King County; the Washington Forest Protection Association; and the Washington Department of Ecology.

Event schedule:

Friday: 9:30 a.m.-9 p.m., Pier 57, Environmental Exhibits

Saturday: 10 a.m.- 10 p.m., arts and crafts, the canoe ceremony, Pow Wow, Coastal Jam and Entertainment from 6-8 p.m.

Friday and Saturday: Noon- 8 p.m., Salmon Bake.
