Reel Time trivia winner hails from Everett

Congratulations to Luke Winsor of Everett who is this week’s Reel Time Trivia winner.

The trivia question of the week was:

A coho run is the driver right now in this big flowing river of northern Puget Sound, and it also feeds two other major rivers above that provide a decent number of salmon and steelhead fishing throughout most of the year.

On odd-numbered years this river – where a nearby local high school’s colors are red and white – there is a mighty pink salmon return that has hordes of anglers lining its banks. This river just above the tidal area also produces a unique fishery for sturgeon.

The correct answer Winsor gave was Snohomish River.

“(I) have been fishing for as long as I can remember when my dad took me to an outdoor show with a kids trout pond and I caught my first fish then,” Winsor said. “I believe I was four years old at the time.”

I prefer salmon and trout fishing, but I like to go bottom fishing as well,” he said. “I’ve fished on the Hood Canal a lot, but I’ll go anywhere I can to fish, such as Westport, local lakes and rivers, and the Puget Sound.”

“The only unfortunate thing is I don’t get to go fishing as often as I’d like to,” Winsor said. “Lately, what’s given me a lot of joy, has been being able to take my step-children fishing during these last couple of years and seeing them have fun and catch fish.”

Winsor wins a nice outdoors prize.

This will be an ongoing weekly trivia contest where the winner who answers the question first will receive an outdoor prize that will range from books, Berkley bait, lures and other nifty items from the outdoors gunnysack.

The next trivia question will posted on Monday, Oct. 8. Winners are announced the following Friday.
