Wenatchee River and section of Columbia River mainstem to close Sunday

Salmon fishing will come to a close starting one hour after sunset on Sunday, Oct. 7 in the Wenatchee River and parts of the Columbia River mainstem.

The area affected by the closure is the Wenatchee River from the mouth (confluence with the Columbia River) to the Icicle Road Bridge near the west end of Leavenworth, and Columbia River from Rock Island Dam to Chief Joseph Dam.

The summer chinook and sockeye salmon fisheries are nearing the limit of incidental catches of ESA-listed steelhead.

The fall chinook fisheries below Rock Island Dam, and the summer chinook fishery in the Chelan River aren’t part of this closure.
