Here is the latest report on the Yakima River chinook fishery by Paul Hoffarth, a state Fish and Wildlife biologist in Pasco:
Angler effort and harvest is holding steady for salmon fishing in the lower Yakima River.
State Fish and Wildlife staff talked with 135 anglers fishing for salmon this past week with 38 chinook and 3 coho harvested. There were an estimated 815 angler trips for the week with 152 adult fall chinook, 47 jacks and 15 coho harvested
For the season, 572 adult fall chinook, 197 jacks, and 15 coho have been harvested. The fishery will run through this Sunday, Oct. 22.
