Coastal razor clam digs approved to begin this weekend

clam_2.JPG

More coastal razor clam digs received the go ahead, and comes on the heels of what was an excellent opener on Oct. 13-18.

Twin Harbors will be open Oct. 27-30, and Long Beach, Copalis and Mocrocks will be open Oct. 27-28. Digging on all the beaches is allowed after noon each day.

Low tides: Oct. 27, plus-0.2 feet at 5:57 p.m.; Oct. 28, -0.1 at 6:36 p.m.; Oct. 29, -0.3 at 7:12 p.m.; and Oct. 30, -0.4 at 7:46 p.m.

Those making the drive north to Copalis and Mocrocks should be ready for traffic revisions on eastbound U.S. Highway 101 in Hoquiam due to emergency work on the Simpson Avenue Bridge.

This is the only route to the two beaches so diggers should plan for extra time to arrive on the beaches in time for low tide.

Other tentative dates once tests for marine toxins are approved are:

Tuesday, Nov. 13 (-1.6 at 5:54 p.m.) and Wednesday, Nov. 14 (-1.9 at 6:41 p.m.) at Twin Harbors only; Thursday, Nov. 15 (-1.9 at 7:29 p.m.) at Long Beach and Twin Harbors; and Friday, Nov. 16 (-1.6 at 8:18 p.m.) Saturday, Nov. 17 (-1.1 at 9:09 p.m.) at Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Copalis and Mocrocks; Monday, Nov. 26 (-0.1 at 5:16 p.m.), Tuesday, Nov. 27 (-0.3 at 5:52 p.m.) and Wednesday, Nov. 28 (-0.4 at 6:27 p.m.) at Twin Harbors only; Thursday, Nov. 29 (-0.4 at 7:01 p.m.) at Long Beach and Twin Harbors; and Friday, Nov. 30 (-0.3 at 7:35 p.m.) at Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Copalis and Mocrocks.
