Hoko River closing for fishing beginning this Monday

The Hoko River on the western Strait of Juan de Fuca will close to all fishing – for boat and bank anglers – from the hatchery fish ladder downstream for 100 feet from Dec. 3-31.

A sstate Fish and Wildlife news release says the Hoko Hatchery is falling short on their spawning escapement needs.

By closing this section will allow steelhead to aggregate outside the fish ladder, and then head into the facility without disturbance from fishing activity.

The closed bank area on the northwest side of the Hoko (opposite the hatchery) is located between the posted signs.
