The Roche Harbor Salmon Classic Invitational held Feb. 7-9 on San Juan Island has only three entry spots open in an event that is limited to 100 boats.

Cost is $754.60, and includes all dinners for registered anglers and moorage. First place is $10,000, second place is $5,000, and third place is $3,000.

Last year, 85 boats with 239 anglers caught 93 hatchery chinook (55 hooked on Friday and 38 on Saturday).

First place went to Jason King of Bellingham with a 16.6 pound chinook he caught on day-one. Tied for second were Brian Dennis of Lake Tapps with a 16.2 pound chinook and David Hodges of Friday Harbor with a 16.2 pound chinook.

The best boat total weight went to Derek and Julie Floyd of Camano Island, and Scott and Shannon Bumstead who caught 44.13 pounds, and earned $2,000.
