Reel Time Trivia winner hails from Maltby

Congratulations to Eric Smith of Maltby who is this week’s Reel Time Trivia winner.

The trivia question of the week was:

This scenic Central Washington river just reopened for steelhead under emergency regulations a little more than a week ago after being closed for several years, and those who ventured to its banks have been finding decent action.

The U.S. 2 Highway parallels more than 25 miles of the lower river, and while the hatchery steelhead fishery gains all the fanfare it also produces a wonderful whitefish fishery in the deep pools. Those heading west should also make a stop in the tourist Bavarian town nearby.

The correct answer Smith gave was Wenatchee River.

“I started fishing as a kid with my dad in the San Juans,” Smith said. “Fishing and crabbing is something we enjoy as a family. My wife and I  started with our honeymoon 11 years ago which was a Canadian fishing trip.”

“Nowadays, together with our three boys we enjoy cabbing, and fishing for salmon and halibut (in) Puget Sound,” Smith said. “Our 19-foot Arima “Stress Relief” can be found off Posssion Bar, Discovery Bay, and each summer we spend time in the San Juans. And we try to make a trip every now and then to Cabo.”

Smith wins a nice outdoors prize.

This will be an ongoing weekly trivia contest where the winner who answers the question first will receive an outdoor prize that will range from books, Berkley bait, lures and other nifty items from the outdoors gunnysack.

The next trivia question will posted on Monday, Feb. 25. Winners are announced the following Friday.
