Bill Haye’s Hot Plug’s Derby is Saturday on Camano Island

The Bill Hayes Hot Plug’s Blackmouth Derby is Saturday, March 2 on Camano Island.
Rules: All weather derby. Everyone in the boat must be entered. Washington State fishing regulations apply. Not responsible for accidents or injuries.
Fishing is allowed in Marine Catch Area 8-1 and 8-2 only.
Prizes are:
1st is 50 percent of total entry fees
2nd 20 percent of total entry fees
3rd 15 percent of total entry fees
4th 10 percent of total entry fees
Two $100 prizes will be drawn for any derby ticket holder, fish or no fish, but must be present to win.
Weigh in 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. sharp by MY watch at the Stanwood Eagles located at 6419 Pioneer Highway in Stanwood. For directions, call 360-629-3224
Cost is $50 per person.
Entry fees may be paid at the following locations: Stanwood Eagles (Feb. 1-March 1); Elger Bay Grocery; Camano Marine; Hook Line & Sinker; Holiday Sports; Johns Sporting Goods and Ted’s Sports Center in Lynnwood until 2 p.m. on Friday, March 1.

Here are the 2012 derby results with five fish caught for 58 anglers: 1, Gordan Taylor, 11.4 pound hatchery chinook, $1,450; 2, Al Audet, 8.5 hatchery chinook, $580; 3, Tina Taylor, 6.4 pound hatchery chinook, $435; 4, Nate Bisson, 4.7 pound hatchery chinook, $290.
