Big crowd expected for lowland lakes east of the Cascades
Here is the latest fishing report from Dave Graybill, longtime Eastern Washington outdoor radio host and angler:
If you just realized that the opening of the lowland lakes is happening this weekend and you haven’t made reservations for a camping or RV spot, there is still hope. There are several good locations in the region that typically don’t fill up.
In Grant County the parks that serve Blue and Park lakes are quite large, and although you will see RVs lined up along the highway at Blue Lake several days in advance of the opener, camping may still be available. Jameson Lake also has a large area available to folks that wish to camp or are self-contained. In Okanogan County there are four resorts and a State Park at Conconully.
I visited this area last year on the opening day, and there was plenty of room for camping at the state park. At Curlew Lake there are several resorts, and one of the nicest State Parks I have ever seen.
I have been here on Memorial Weekend and found it only about half full. Fish Lake, near Lake Wenatchee, has a very large camping area and could probably squeeze in a few more last-minute visitors. Don’t forget to buy your new license before you head out for your favorite lake, too.
