Two Southwest Washington rivers open Saturday for hatchery steelhead

Anglers can get a jump start on steelhead fishing in two Southwest Washington tributaries.

The Lower sections of the Green and South Fork Toutle rivers in Cowlitz County will be open Saturday (May 25) through May 31.

The specific stretches open are the Green River from the mouth to 400 feet below the water intake at the upper end of the hatchery; and the South Fork Toutle River from the mouth to the 4700 Road Bridge.

During the seven-day fishery the daily limit will be two hatchery steelhead. All wild steelhead and other game fish (including trout) must be released. Selective gear rules are in effect,

The Green River from the mouth to the 2800 Road Bridge and the whole South Fork Toutle River will reopen for hatchery steelhead starting June 1. Check the state Fish and Wildlife regulation pamphlet for details at http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/regulations/.
