Fishing event for children with disabilities July 13 near Woodland

State Fish and Wildlife is hosting a Kids Fishing Event for children with disabilities 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 13 at the Merwin Fish Hatchery east of Woodland.

The event is sponsored by state Fish and Wildlife, Pacific Power, the Go Play Outside Alliance of Washington and PacifiCorp Energy.

The area will be planted with about 3,000 trout averaging one to four pounds, and is accessible by wheelchair.

A rod, reel, tackle and a t-shirt will be given to each angler to use at the event and take home. There will also be a BBQ lunch, fish painting, a casting contest and other activities.
