New daily limit catch limit begins Saturday at Cle Elum Lake

Those planning a fishing trip to Cle Elum Lake will need to aware of the new fish daily catch regulation now implemented.

The daily limit will be five trout beginning Saturday, July 13, and includes kokanee. Previously the daily catch limit for kokanee was 16.

State Fish and Wildlife and the Yakama Nation are reintroducing sockeye salmon into the Upper Cle Elum water basin.

The new catch limit is to protect juvenile sockeye needed for this program. The reduced catch will also protect non-native lake trout, and eastern brook and brown trout.

The kokanee size limit is a 7-inch minimum and 14-inch maximum. There is a 12-inc minimum size limit for all other trout.
