Tuna Classic Tournament is July 26-27 in Ilwaco

The Oregon Tuna Classic Tournament Series is July 26-27 in Ilwaco, and Aug. 16-17 in Garibaldi, Oregon.

The heaviest five fish are worth $1,500 each day; the second heaviest five fish are $900 each day; and the third heaviest five fish are $600 each day.

The two-day overall winner will receive a special prize package by Shimano/PowerPro. There will also be side cash pots, which will be split between the two days, and are optional.

The “Largest Tuna Jackpot” entry is $100 per tournament, and will be split between Friday and Saturday.

The “Pelagic Jackpot” entry is $100 per tournament, and will be split between Friday and Saturday. These fish include blue fin tuna, big eye tuna, yellow fin tuna, yellowtail jack, opah, marlin or swordfish. No sharks allowed.

The $100, $250, $500 and $1,000 “Cash Side Pots” will pay out to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places at each level of side pot, and will be split 60 percent, 20 percent, 10 percent and 10 percent to the OTC. The cash side pot will be split evenly between Friday and Saturday event.

Cost is $650 for both tournaments per team of four anglers by July 21 or $450 for Ilwaco only by July 21 and $450 for Gairbaldi by Aug. 11. Late registration is $100 extra per event.
