A section of the Stillaguamish River North Fork will close to all fishing from Monday, Aug. 5 through Sept. 30 to protect summer steelhead.
This area, plus the catch and release fishery, includes all waters from the Highway 530 bridge at Cicero up to the Oso Bridge at Oso (Oso Loop Road/221st Ave. S.E.).
Fisheries managers say low flows and unusually warm water temperatures could lead to a high handling mortality of steelhead. The fishery could reopen sooner if conditions improve or it could extend beyond Sept. 30 if improvements aren’t seen by then.
