King action in Columbia River’s Hanford Reach area gaining steam

Here is the Columbia River Hanford Reach fishing report by Paul Hoffarth, a state Fish and Wildlife biologist in Pasco:

This past week, staff interviewed anglers from 356 boats (762 boat anglers) and 133 bank anglers fishing for Chinook that harvested  244 adult Chinook and 60 jacks (0.5 Chinook per boat).

Harvest for the week was estimated at 518 adult Chinook and 132 Chinook jacks.  Angler effort continues to rise.  Based on the interviews, an estimated 2,787 angler trips were conducted between September 9th and 15th.

For the season, 1,134 adult Chinook and 272 jacks have been harvested.  There have been 8,119 angler trips for the fishery through September 15.
