Pinks flooding into the Nisqually River

The Nisqually River in southern Puget Sound is loaded with pinks, and is well worth a fishing trip.

Through last Friday, 20,000 pinks had passed at the Nisqually fish weir, and so far more than 55,000 have entered the river system with more on the way.

Fisheries managers believe that the 750,000 preseason forecast might be on the light side and could hit one-million. If that happens fisheries officials believe it will be the largest return of pinks to the Nisqually.

Fishing has been very good in recent days.
