Youth pheasant hunt happening this weekend at Joint Base Lewis-McChord
State Fish and Wildlife volunteers in conjunction with Joint Base Lewis-McChord, and local Pheasants Forever is hosting a Fall Youth Pheasant Hunt this weekend, Sept. 21-22 on JBLM/Ft. Lewis training areas.
Volunteers will be releasing about 350 pheasants during the two-day hunt. The Youth Hunt is open to all licensed hunters age 16-and-under.
The hunt is regulated for safety and sportsmanship. For those who don’t have a trained dog, volunteers from Western Washington Pheasant Release Program and Pheasants Forever Chapter 257 will provide one to hunt with for the kids who participate. Pheasants Forever will also be providing a free lunch.
All hunters will need a valid Washington State hunting license and Westside pheasant harvest card. All hunters must also be registered with the Ft Lewis hunter-registration program which is run by the Northwest Adventure Center.
