Skokomish River sport fishing season extended through mid-December

The Skokomish River in southern Hood Canal will stay open through Dec. 15 for salmon and gamefish.

State Fish and Wildlife has determined that enough salmon are available for harvest to allowing additional sport fishing.

Terminal gear may be used – including hooks, weights, lures or baits – and line must not be within 25 feet of tribal gillnets effective Nov. 1 through Dec.15 from  mouth to the Highway 101 Bridge.

Catch-and-release fishing is open for gamefish. Salmon fishing is open with a six salmon daily limit and up to four adults may be kept.

Anglers must release chinook. Night closure, anti-snagging rule and single point barbless hooks are required through Nov. 30.

Gamefish fishing is closed from Highway 101 Bridge up to the Bonneville power lines.
