Hoodsport area in Hood Canal picks up dramatically for chum fishing

nwwfishtwo13

The popular Hoodsport shoreline in Hood Canal has come to life for chum fishing action this past week, and should continue as the run builds up in the next few weeks.

A state Fish and Wildlife check showed on Friday, Nov. 1 that 26 anglers caught 26 chum; and Saturday, Nov. 2 57 anglers caught a whopping 110 chum.

Other good estuary spots for chum are off Kennedy Creek in Totten Inlet, Chico Creek estuary in Dyes Inlet, Johns Creek in Oakland Bay and Curly Creek estuary near Southworth. Also try for chum at North Bay near Allyn, Perry Creek in Eld Inlet, Whatcom Creek in Bellingham, McLane Creek, Eagle Creek south of Potlatch State Park, and the public-access shores off Highway 101 from Eldon to Hoodsport.
