Eastern Washington steelhead action remains slow except for Methow River

Here is the latest fishing report from Dave Graybill, longtime Eastern Washington outdoor radio host and angler:

Temperatures are cooling throughout the region, and we are seeing more days of cloudy skies.  We should even see some snow in the higher elevations.

I am hoping that the cooler weather will chill our area rivers and get the steelhead bite going.  It has been off the pace, so far, except for the Methow River.  I am keeping an eye on the Similkameen, which is now open.

Here’s a note on river conditions.

With the four largest generating units offline at Rocky Reach Dam, Chelan County PUD advises the public that there could be unpredictable flows, spill and river fluctuations from both upstream and downstream from Rocky Reach and Rock Island dams through the winter. Also, there may be increased turbulence in the area just below Rocky Reach as the result of spilling.

Fishermen need to be cautious and stay well-away from the dam for safety.

The four largest generating units at Rocky Reach Dam were shut down following the discovery of a deep crack in a stainless steel rod that delivers oil to a servo motor in one of the units. All units have the same design features and the shutdown was to ensure these units could be operated safely.
